Yesterday, the Nettes varsity basketball team hosted the Lady Ramblers of LaFayette High School in a big region 7AAAA match up. Pickens, looked to get the season sweep of LaFayette and came in tied for third in the region with Southeast Whitfield at 4-3.The first quarter started off with back and forth action with both teams. The Lady Ramblers came away with the lead after one, 12-10. The second quarter saw more of the same as both teams scored 11 points each as LaFayette held the halftime lead at 23-21. The second half, belonged to the Nettes.
Much like their meeting at LaFayette in early December, Pickens came out in the third quarter and seemed to hit every shot that they attempted. The Nettes outscored the Lady Ramblers 19-5 in the quarter to take the lead, 40-28 going to the final quarter. A 23-8 Pickens run in the fourth sealed the win for the Nettes, 63-36.
Pickens is now 9-10 on the season and 5-3 in region play

Haley Kalson: 25 points, 4 assists, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals
Makayla Payne: 14 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds, and a steal
Kaitlin Redman: 7 points, and 5 rebounds
Mackenzie Hampton: 6 points, 1 assist, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals
Autumn Young: 5 points, 1 assist, 2 rebounds, and a steal
While she may not have scored, Taylor Wigington left her mark on this game by dishing out 6 assists, grabbing a rebound, and coming up with 4 steals.
Pickens will now get readfy for yet another big home region game as they will welcome the Lady Canes of Cartersville on Friday evening. The Nettes find themselves alone in third place in the region and look to get the split with the Lady Canes. Tip off scheduled for 7 pm.
