Mrs. Frankie Fitts McAfee, age 88, of Jasper passed away Monday, July 20, 2015 at Embracing Hospice in Cumming.

Frankie was born November 15, 1926 to Abraham Lincoln Fitts and Ellen Bradley Fitts in Pickens County. Frankie married James Troy McAfee, Sr. and together they raised their three children in Pickens County. Mrs. McAfee devoted most of her life to teaching students at Pickens High School.

Mrs. McAfee is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Ron Hunter of Jasper, Sue and Alan Tennant of Jasper; son, James McAfee of Joplin, Missouri; grandchildren, Leigh Anne Hunter of Jasper, Stephen and Kristin Hunter of Jasper, Allison Tennant of Jasper, and Michael Tennant of Jasper. Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 23 at Long Swamp Baptist Church with Reverend Bobby Cantrell officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Wednesday, July 22 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral hour. Pall bearers are Ralph Fitts, Jim Fitts, Wayne Anderson, Brad Stephens, Jared Fitts, and Kirk Anderson.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society (P.O. Box 22718; Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718) or Alzheimer’s Association (Georgia Chapter; 922 East Morris Street; Dalton, GA 30721.)

Arrangements have been entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home & Crematory in Jasper.
