The Jasper Police Department released the following update earlier this morning on the incident involving the robbery of a Verizon Wireless store in Pickens County.

On Saturday, October 3rd 2015 an armed robbery at Verizon Wireless was reported to the Pickens 911 Center.

On other side of town shortly thereafter, JPD Officer conducted an investigative stop with an SUV at Fred’s on East Church Street.

While speaking with the individual’s, Officer observed several actions & mannerisms which lead him to believe that a crime has been or is being committed. Which was later confirmed after receiving a description of the suspects.

Due to actions taken by Officer and the Pickens 911 Center all four individual’s involved in robbery were apprehended, and stolen property recovered.

The Jasper Police Department would like to thank Pickens Sheriff’s Office & Georgia State Patrol for their assistance.

Last but not least a special thanks to the Pickens 911 Center for their prompt and professional services. While they don’t have arrest powers they do tell us police officers where to go and how to get there.
