Shorter senior safety & former PHS quarterback Jordan Shaw was named to the All-GSC First Team today. This is the 2nd straight season the Shaw has been named to the First Team. Shaw finished the season as the Hawks leading tackler for the 3rd straight season.

After walking on as a QB, Shaw moved to the Safety position and excelled. Shaw went on to become a three- year starter on defense and now ends his career 3rd all-time in tackles, 3rd in career interceptions, & holds the record for most interceptions in a season with 8 in 2014.

This season, Shaw averaged 8.7 tackles per game, finished with 87 total tackles, an INT (his 11th in his career), & returned a fumble 61 yards for a score.

In 2014, Shaw was named the 2014 GSC Defensive Player of the Year and was named as Shorter’s first ever AFCA Divison II All-American. Shaw was named to 6 different All-American teams and was named a finalist for the 2014 Cliff-Harris Award given to the nation’s best non-D-1 defensive player. Prior to the 2015 season, Shaw was named to 5 different All-American teams. Here’s a quote from Shorter head coach Phil Jones on Shaw:

Jordan was clearly an impact player, and he has made an impact on this program. What makes him special is that he never missed a practice or a meeting, and throughout it all he remained humble.
