Aces Youth Home Fundraiser

Community

Jasper, GA – A new opportunity for community support is coming in August for local foster care efforts.

When Department of Children and Family Services (DFACS) determines it is not safe for a child to remain in their home, the child is placed in foster care. Foster care is intended to be a temporary home away from home while the agency works with the child’s family to eliminate or minimize the safety issues.

According to Fostering Court Improvement, 65 children in Pickens County were placed in foster care between April 2016 to March 2017. In Pickens County, and our region in North Georgia, the need for foster care is great, especially for youths age 11-18.

To answer the need, ACES Youth Home was built by the community to serve this and the surrounding areas. The home provides temporary and long-term residential placement and care for youths ages 11-18. ACES is a nonprofit organization that relies 50% on community contributions and financial donations to shelter children in need.

To continue its efforts, the organization will be holding a fundraiser at Buffalo Luke’s in Pickens County on Thursday, August 17, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M.

When you mention ACES to your server during the fundraiser, the organization will receive a portion of the proceeds to help take care of the children living at the youth home.
