PHS Golf Crowned King & Queen After 515 Tournament

Team FYN Sports

It was a warm, beautiful Saturday in Jasper Georgia yesterday and the high school golf teams of Pickens, Gilmer, & Fannin decided they wanted to get together and play. Bent Tree Golf Club in Jasper hosted the King & Queen of 515 Tournament. At the end of the afternoon, we would find out who truly reigned supreme on the links.

After all the drives, the chips, the putts, & maybe one or two trips to the beach, the PHS Boys & Girls golf teams came away victorious. The Dragons, finished with a 131, Fannin County came in 2nd with a 171, & Gilmer in 3rd with a 190. Low score was shot by the Dragon team of Yates Smith & Eddie Lindbert, who combined to shoot 62 for 18 holes (Par at Bent Tree is 72).

For the girls, the Dragonettes took it home with a 70, Fannin again came in 2nd, shooting an 80, while Gilmer came in 3rd, shooting an 89. the 70, was shot by the team of Katherine Densmore & Heather Vincent. Good for -2 par.

Bent Tree is a challenging course for anybody & I’d say all three schools played very well on it considering most hadn’t been to Bent Tree before yesterday.

As for Pickens, they will be back at Bent Tree on Tuesday as they welcome Lumpkin County for a match. Tee off is scheduled for 4 pm.
