On Friday, the Pickens Dragonettes (14-7, 7-2) welcomed the Lafayette Lady Ramblers (12-8, 4-5) for a 6-AAAA contest. It was Senior Night in Jasper last night and the Nettes picked up another big win 59-56. Also, there was a little history made in the process.

The first quarter started out pretty evenly as we had a tie game, 6-6. From there, Pickens went on a 12-0 run to take an 18-6 lead before Lafayette hit a bucket. The Nettes, closed on a 5-0 run highlighted by a play by senior Mykenzie Weaver where she stole the ball in the corner, then turned around and shot a three pointer and sent the home crowd in a frenzy when it connected. Going to the second, Pickens led the Lady Ramblers 23-8.

In the third quarter, again, Lafayette made a run. The Lady Ramblers had the Nettes lead down to just 32-29 at one time. During the third, we saw history made. Weaver, scored a bucket and that would be her 2,000th career point scored in a Dragonettes jersey. Time was called and she received a standing ovation from the home crowd and hugs from her teammates and coaches. After the mini celebration, Pickens had to refocus as they maintained their close lead on Lafayette. Going to the fourth, the Nettes held a 44-39 lead.
