Steinhauer passes 2,000 career points as Nettes sweep Lumpkin

Dahlonega, Ga — The ice storm and winter weather over the weekend, pushed back games to Wednesday, January 28th as the Pickens Dragonettes, made the trip over to Lumpkin County to take on the Lady Indians. The Nettes, came into the game looking for the in season sweep as they defeated the Lady Indians in Jasper back on December 16th. Nettes Senior guard Ellison Steinhauer, would surpass the 2,000 career point mark early on in the third quarter as the Nettes would use a big second half to pick up the win, 55-45.
Reagan Richardson, would get things started with a layup to make it 2-0 Lady Indians. The Nettes, would respond as Darbi Stanley, Steinhauer, and Bree Jewell, would combine to go on an 11-0 run to make it 11-2. A three by Alanyna Lindley, would end the run and cut the lead to 6. After a basket by Reagan Ludington, Lindley, would hit her second three of the frame to make it 13-8 Nettes heading to the second quarter.
Maddie Lee, would cut the lead to 2 with a three to begin the second quarter. Steinhauer, would then sink a pair of free throws as play would be stopped to recognize the Nettes lone Senior for surpassing the 2,000 career point mark. When play resumed, Anna Kate Davis, would split a pair of free throws. A second three by Lee, would tie the game at 15. Tania Rivera, would answer with a three of her own to give the Nettes an 18-15 lead.
After Lee split a pair of free throws, Steinhauer, would get a bucket to go and Jewell would complete an and-1 play to make it 23-16. Lindley and Lee, would close out the first half by combining to go on a 5-0 run to close the gap to 23-21 heading into the break.
The Nettes, would start the second half on an 8-0 run with Steinhauer scoring the first seven points. Ludington, would split a pair of free throws to make it 31-21. After Lee made both of her free throw attempts to end that run, Rivera and Steinahuer, would combine to go on a 6-0 run to stretch the lead out to 37-23. Richardson, would end that run by making a pair of free throws to cut the lead to 12.
Steinhauer, would then go on a 5-0 run by herself to make it 42-25. Davis, would hit the first field goal of the second half for the Lady Indians as she would make a three to cut the lead to 14. Violet Greene, would then split a pair of free throws to trim the lead down to 13. After a three by Ludington, Lee, would end the third quarter scoring by making a pair of free throws as the Nettes took a 45-31 lead into the fourth.
A three by the Nettes, would make it a 17 point game to pen up the fourth quarter. Lindley, Richardson, and Lee, would then combine to go on an 8-0 run to trim the lead to 48-39. A 5-0 run by Rivera, would make it 53-39. A three by Lee, would cut the lead to 11. A basket by Steinahuer, would bring the lead back up to 13. Lee, would get a layup to go and Richardson, would split a pair of free throws as the Nettes would come away with the win, 55-45.

The Nettes, will be back home on Friday, January 30th as they take on the North Hall Lady Trojans. The Nettes, will look to avenge an early season loss to the Lady Trojans to split the in season series. Tip off is set for 6 pm.
