Mrs. Dorothy Chastain Payne, age 79, of Jasper, Georgia, died Friday, September 30, 2011, at the Grandview Health Care Center in Jasper, Georgia, following a period of declining health.

Born May 12, 1932 in Pickens County, she was the daughter of the late E.L. and Hettie Jane Lowery Robinson. She was also preceded in death by husbands, Emory Chastain and Ralph Monroe Payne. Mrs. Payne was a homemaker and a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Cherokee County.

Survivors include, DAUGHTERS & SONS-IN-LAW, Maxine Frady, of Ellijay, Ga.; Charlene and Charles Miess , of Jasper, Ga.; Earlene and Edwin Wigington, of Jasper, Ga.; SON & DAUGHTER-IN-LAW, Richard and Wanda Chastain, of Jasper, Ga.; EIGHT GRANDCHILDREN and SEVEN GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN; SISTERS & BROTHER-IN-LAW, Gladys and Grady Cagle, of Jasper, Ga.; Mae Mosley, of Jasper, Ga.; BROTHER & SISTER-IN-LAW, Jake and Glyndon Robinson, of Jasper, Ga.; Several Nieces, Nephews and other relatives also survive.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 3, 2011, at the Roper Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Grady Cagle, Rev. LeRoy Kelley and Johnny Barnes will officiate, with the interment to follow in Hinton Community Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, all day on Sunday until 9:00 p.m. and until the funeral hour on Monday.

The family will accept flowers, however, donations may be made to the Hinton Community Cemetery, c/o of Mr. Johnny Barnes, 8475 Highway 53 W., Jasper, Georgia 30143
