A Crack in the Cristobal: Florida International Makes a Change
Opinion, Team FYN Sports December 6, 2012
The Florida International Golden Panthers made a very surprising decision on Wednesday, making the announcement that head coach Mario Cristobal had been relieved of his duties.
Cristobal, who played at the University of Miami in the 1980’s and took over as Golden Panthers head coach after the 2006 season following a three year run as an assistant at his alma mater, posted a 27-47 record in his six years with Florida International, including a 3-9 mark this season. (more…)
Nightmare at Neyland: Vols Dump Dooley
Opinion, Team FYN Sports November 18, 2012
Tennessee athletic director Dave Hart announced on Sunday afternoon that Volunteers head coach Derek Dooley has been relieved of his duties effective immediately. Volunteers offensive coordinator Jim Chaney will serve as interim head coach for the season-ending game against Kentucky.
Dooley, who posted a 15-21 record with one bowl appearance in three seasons in Knoxville, failed to revive a once-proud Tennessee program, winning only four SEC games in three years while losing to Vanderbilt and Kentucky over the last two years.

Fetch Football Forum: Redefining Rivals
Opinion, Team FYN Sports October 23, 2012
This Saturday, October 27th is the day that the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party kicks off again between the #2 Florida Gators and the #10 Georgia Bulldogs, pitting two fierce rivals against each other yet again.
Rivalries in college football are like popcorn at the movies: it’s a huge part of what makes the whole experience so enjoyable. However, I think the scope of a “rivalry game” isn’t quite narrow enough, so I feel the need to set the record straight.

Tennessee Trips in 4th, Loses to Gators
Community, Opinion, Team FYN Sports September 19, 2012
Tennessee went into this game looking to beat a rebuilding Florida team pretty easily, but as any die hard Vols fan knows, one can never sleep on the Gators. They will bite you if you underestimate them. That is exactly what they did in a 37-20 win over Tennessee. (more…)
Fetch Football Forum: Week 3 Recap

Fetch Football Forum: Rivalry Renewed on Rocky Top
Opinion, Team FYN Sports September 14, 2012
Welcome back to the Fetch Football Forum. This week’s key SEC matchup pits the Florida Gators against the Tennessee Volunteers, a matchup that was once the most highly contested in the entire conference but had died down due to the tremendous amount of success that Florida experienced during Urban Meyer’s time in Gainesville. However, this year looks to be different, as Derek Dooley’s Vols finally look reloaded and ready to give the Gators a game.

Here’s a recap of each team’s game starting with the school that had the best outing and ending with the team that had a day to forget. (more…)
I SEC What You Did There: Predictions on the Nation’s Toughest Conference
Team FYN Sports July 18, 2012
SEC Media Days kicked off yesterday in Hoover, Alabama, allowing media members from across the country to ask questions concerning the upcoming season to the conference’s top head coaches and players.
Although the focus is truly on those who actually play a role on the field and on the sidelines on Saturdays in the fall, a bit of the limelight goes to the sportswriters covering the event, who are always polled in order to predict the conference’s champion. The predictions have been generally off, however, as the media has posted an abysmal 4-16 record in doing so (last correct prediction was Florida in 2008).
With the press being off so much in general in regards to SEC play, I took it upon myself to make up for their miscues and release my own predictions on how the Southeastern Conference will play out this season.
2012 College Football Preview: 14 Matchups That Must Happen
Opinion, Team FYN Sports June 17, 2012
Today is Sunday, June 17th, which is significant for two reasons: it is Father’s Day, the one day out of the year that we take time to thank our dads for walking us through the other 364 days with very little disruption, and it is exactly 74 days until the 2012 college football season kicks off. With the days quickly winding down, it’s important that the avid fan out there knows what to look out for once the first sets of games get under way in what promises to be another year full of wild upsets, dramatic comebacks, and hilarious head coaching meltdowns.
