Team FYN Sports

Earlier this evening, the PHS Dragonettes basketball team were again on the road. This time, they made their way to Tunnel Hill to take on region foe, the Lady Bruins of Northwest Whitfield. Pickens has been unlucky in their last several games and looked to end the skid and get a big region win.

In the 1st quarter it was back and forth at the beginning. The Lady Bruins took the lead going to the 2nd quarter 14-6. In the 2nd, Northwest Whitfield’s offense seemed to hit everything while their defense caused some trouble for the Nettes. The Lady Bruins found themselves ahead of Pickens at the half, 30-13.

In the 3rd quarter, offense was still hard to come by for the Nettes. Northwest Whitfield used a 17-5 run to take a 47-18 lead into the 4th quarter. The 4th quarter was the best offensive quarter for Pickens. The Nettes outscored the Lady Bruins, 13-11 in the frame. The final ended up being 58-31 in favor of Northwest Whitfield.

Leading the way for the Nettes were:

Autumn Young: 14 points, 1 assist, 2 rebounds, & 1 steal

Mackenzie Hampton: 8 points, 1 assist, & 3 rebounds

Shelby Cook: 3 points, 1 assist, 1 rebound, & 1 steal

Shae Chadwick: 2 points, 4 rebounds, & 2 steals

The Nettes will be back inside the Dragons Den on Friday when they host the Lady Canes of Cartersville in a makeup game. This game was originally scheduled for the 4th, but was moved to the 18th due to Cartersville’s playoff run during the football playoffs. Tip off scheduled for 6 p.m.
