Dragons Can’t Overcome Tough 3rd Quarter, Ready For Thanksgiving Tournament

Last night, the PHS Dragons varsity basketball team traveled to Woodstock to take on the River Ridge Knights of 6A. This was the Dragons first road game of the season as they were looking to bounce back after a tough loss to Forsyth Central on Tuesday.

 

In the 1st, Pickens jumped out to a quick lead on the Knights, getting six quick points. The Dragons held the lead at the end of the 1st, 18-12. In the 2nd, both teams would trade baskets. River Ridge though outscored Pickens in the 2nd, 22-11, to take a 34-29 lead into the break.

 

The 3rd quarter was the deciding factor in this game. The Knights went on a 16-0 run in the frame to stretch their lead out to 50-29 going to the 4th. The Dragons went on to outscore River Ridge in the 4th, 25-20, but it would not be enough. River Ridge takes it, 70-54.

Joseph Gossett: 12 points, 2 assists, 1 rebound & 1 steal

Zach Goss: 10 points, 1 assist, & 2 rebounds

Seth Bishop: 8 points, 1 assist, 4 rebounds, & 2 steals

Chase Simmons: 8 points, 2 steals, & 1 block

Blake Gorth: 8 points, 1 assist, 8 rebounds, & 2 blocks

Hunter Hermann: 5 points, 2 assists, 10 rebounds, & 2 steals

Mathew Stewart: 2 points, 1 assist, & 1 rebound
