Dragons Explode In 2nd Half To Beat West Hall And Move To 4-2

Yesterday, The Dragons finally returned to the Dragons Den to play a true home game for the first time since November 18th to host the Spartans of West Hall in non region action. Pickens, coming off of a tough loss to LaFayette Tuesday night, looked to get back on track before returning to region play next week. Dragon Nation were treated to a great afternoon of high school basketball.

Both Pickens and West Hall traded buckets in the 1st quarter but the Spartans came away with the 13-11 lead going to the 2nd quarter. The Dragons would outscore the Spartans in the 2nd quarter 14-13, but still trailed West Hall at halftime 26-25. Pickens came out in the 2nd half and executed both offensively and defensively to outscore West Hall 22-7 to secure a 48-32 lead headed to the 4th and final quarter. The Dragons would seal the win as they outscored the Spartans 28-26 to grab the win 76-58 to move their record to 4-2 on the season.

On the Night, 5 Dragon players would score in double figures

Leading the way for Pickens were:

Shannon Brooks: 21 points, 1 assist, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals

Holden Roop: 16 points, 2 assists, 1 rebound, and 2 steals

Sam Davis: 11 points, and 3 rebounds

Clay Wigington: 10 points, and 17 rebounds

Walker Lawrence: 10 points, 1 assist, and 3 rebounds

Travis Huffman: 6 points, and 2 assists

Doug Timms chipped in 2 points, 2 assists, and 2 rebounds

The Dragons now will prepare for Tuesday’s home region game between the Generals of Heritage. Tip off for that game is scheduled for 7:30.
