Friday, the Dragons varsity basketball team hosted the Ridgeland Panthers in 7AAAA play. This was the first home game of 2015 for Pickens. As most of the Dragons games have been this season, this one was a nail bitter. (more…)
Last Tuesday, The Dragons traveled up to Dalton to take on the Raiders of Southeast Whitfield in a very important region game. After going 2-1 in the Pickens Holiday Classic, the Dragons looked to even up their region record and start the new year off with a win. The Raiders had something to say about that. (more…)
The Dragons varsity basketball team took on the Model Blue Devils in the third and final day of the Pickens Holiday Classic. Pickens, with wins over Woodstock and Fellowship Christian during the Classic, looked to end 2014 with a win and hand Model just it’s second loss on the season. Yesterday, the Dragons varsity basketball team hosted the Paladins of Fellowship Christian in day two of the Pickens Holiday Classic. Pickens, coming off of a thrilling 3-point win over Woodstock Saturday, looked to continue that momentum into Monday and pick up their tenth win of the season. This past Saturday, the Dragons varsity basketball team hosted teams from different classifications at the Dragons Den for the Pickens Holiday Classic. This tournament had boys and girls teams from A-6A come play in both the new and old gyms at PHS. The first game of the Classic had Pickens squaring off with a 6A school, the Woodstock Wolverines. This Past Friday, the Dragons varsity basketball team traveled to take on the Spartans of West Hall in non region action. Yesterday, the Dragons varsity basketball team traveled to take on the Purple Hurricanes of Cartersville in 7AAAA region play. This was the make up to a game that had to be rescheduled due to the football team of Cartersville hosting Buford in a AAAA semi-final game. And just like on the gridiron, this one was very physical.
Last night, the Dragons varsity basketball team came back home to the Dragons Den to take on the Bruins of Northwest Whitfield in 7AAAA action. Pickens came into the ball game riding a four game win streak and looked to continue their impressive play Tuesday evening and collect their third region win.
Saturday, the Dragons varsity basketball team traveled to take on the Tigers of Dawson County High School in non region play. Pickens, still riding the momentum of beating their rivals, the Gilmer Bobcats, looked to continue their winning streak and avenge one of their two losses on the season. The Dragons varsity basketball team hosted the Bobcats of Gilmer in the Dragons Den for a region 7AAAA battle. Pickens, coming off of an incredible comeback against Heritage on Tuesday, looked to keep the momentum going against their rivals to the north. Dragon Nation would have a lot to cheer about Friday evening.
Last Tuesday, the Dragons Den played host to a region match up between the Dragons and the visiting Generals of Heritage. Pickens had an 0-1 record in region coming into this ball game while Heritage entered 6-1 overall and 2-0 in region. That would not stop the Dragons from pulling off the “upset.”
Yesterday, The Dragons finally returned to the Dragons Den to play a true home game for the first time since November 18th to host the Spartans of West Hall in non region action. Pickens, coming off of a tough loss to LaFayette Tuesday night, looked to get back on track before returning to region play next week. Dragon Nation were treated to a great afternoon of high school basketball.
Last Tuesday, the Dragons traveled to LaFayette High School to take on the Ramblers in the opening game of region play. The Dragons came into the ball game riding high after going undefeated in the annual Thanksgiving tournament in Ellijay and looked to continue that momentum into region play.
Last Tuesday, the Dragons varsity basketball team traveled back to Gilmer High School to take on the host team, the Bobcats, in the final game of the Thanksgiving tournament. Bragging rights were at stake as well as a tournament title. If the Dragons came out victorious, they would be tournament champs. If Gilmer defeated the Dragons, there would be a three way tie for first.
Yesterday, the Dragons varsity basketball team traveled up 515 to play in the first day of the Thanksgiving tournament at Gilmer High School taking on the Rebels of Fannin County High School. The Dragons, coming off of a double overtime loss to Dawson, looked to build momentum for the rest of the season in this opening tournament game. Dragon Nation would certainly be pleased with the way their Dragons played yesterday.
This past Tuesday, the Dragons varsity team opened up the 2014-15 season at home playing host to the Dawson County Tigers in the Dragons Den. The Dragons added several players to the roster after football season came to an end and it would be interesting to see how they would translate from the gridiron, to the hardwood. Nobody in the building could have predicted what was to come later on.
