Nettes’ Split With Lady Raiders Ready For 515 Rivalry

On Friday night, the PHS Dragonettes varsity basketball team traveled to Dalton to take on the Lady Raiders of Southeast Whitfield in a big time region match up. Coming into the ball game, both teams found themselves tied for fourth in 7-AAAA. Pickens, came in, looking for the season sweep.

 

The first quarter, would turn out to be the deciding quarter in this one. Southeast Whitfield got out to a 23-7 lead over the Nettes’ going to the 2nd. The quarter totals in the 2nd were much closer as both teams went back and forth. The Lady Raiders still held the lead going to the half, 40-21.

 

In the 3rd, Southeast Whitfield doubled up the Nettes’ quarter total 16-8. Stretching their lead to 56-29, going to the 4th and final quarter. In the 4th, Pickens had their best quarter as they outscored the Lady Raiders, 18-14. Southeast Whitfield however got the win and the split with a 70-45 final.

 

Leading the way for the Nettes’ were:

Allie Stephens: 8 points, & 4 rebounds

Autumn Young: 8 points, & 2 steals

Ashley Nelson: 7 points, 1 assist, & 8 rebounds

Mackenzie Hampton: 5 points, 1 assist, & 8 rebounds

Shae Chadwick, Shelby Cook, & Madison McClure each had 4 points.

 

The Nettes’ will now turn around and travel to Ellijay to take on the Gilmer Lady Cats later today. Tip off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
