Dragons Fall To The Generals, Head To Ridgeland On Friday

The PHS Dragons varsity basketball team hosted the Heritage Generals inside the Dragons Den last night for a 6-AAAA region ball game, with the regular season coming to a close in a hurry, both teams were looking for momentum to carry them through the final stretch towards the region tournament.

 

The opening quarter, saw highly contested action as both teams found success offensively. The Generals, came away with the lead going to the 2nd, 19-14. The 2nd quarter, was an 8 point ball game, until Heritage went on a run to close the first half. Using a 21-5 quarter advantage, the Generals held a 40-19 lead over the Dragons going to the half.

 

The 3rd, saw a very competitive frame between both teams. Heritage, outscored Pickens 21-18 in the quarter to maintain their lead a 61-37, going to the 4th. The Dragons, outscored the Generals in the 4th 16-12, getting some good play out of some younger players. Pickens, outscored Heritage in the 2nd half, 34-33. It would not be enough as the Generals took this one, 73-53.

 

Leading the way for the Dragons were:

Zach Goss: 14 points, 2 rebounds, & 1 block

Seth Bishop: 9 points, 1 assist, 4 rebounds, & 1 steal

Tucker Lowe: 6 points, 1 assist, & 1 steal

Joseph Gossett: 6 points, 1 assist, & 1 rebound

Hunter Hermann: 5 points, 2 assists, 1 steal, & 1 block

Chase Simmons: 3 points, 1 assist, 1 rebound, & 2 steals

Owen Moss: 3 points, 2 assists, 1 rebound, & 1 steal

Avonta Johnson: 3 points, & 1 steal

 

Pickens, will be on the road on Friday as they head to Ridgeland to take on the Panthers in the 2nd to last region game of the regular season. Tip off is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
