The Pickens Dragons (13-4, 5-2) traveled up to Ringgold to battle the Heritage Generals (7-11, 3-4) in a big 6-AAAA region meeting. Pickens, picked up a win earlier in the season against the Generals, and looked to earn the regular season sweep much like the Nettes did before them.
To open the ball game, the Generals went on a 5-0 run to take an early lead. Heritage, would race out to a 14-7 lead, but the Dragons made a run. Fueled by Tucker Lowe, Luke Rogers, and Noah Sutton, Pickens went on an 11-0 run to take an 18-14 lead. The Generals, closed out the quarter on a 5-2 run, but the Dragons held a slim lead of 20-19, going to the second.
The second quarter saw both teams trade buckets as this one remained tightly contested. Just before the end of the first half, Zac Tetterton hit a big three pointer to put the Dragons up 37-33 over Heritage as we hit the break.
In the third quarter, the Generals would reclaim the lead, 38-37, after a quick 5-0 run. The two teams continued to trade buckets as the score would tied twice during the frame. The Dragons, closed the quarter on a 7-0 run after buckets from Owen Moss, Will Roland, and a three pointer by Lowe to give Pickens a 57-50 lead going to the fourth.
In the fourth quarter, the Dragons held a 10 point lead several times during the final frame. Heritage however, would not go quietly. After being down 10, the Generals cut the Pickens lead down to 72-71. The Dragons, extended their lead after five straight free throws to make it 77-71. The Generals cut the lead to 77-74 after a three. Lowe then made a pair of free throws to make it 79-74. After Heritage intentionally fouled Lowe, the Generals were called for a technical foul. Lowe, stepped up and hit four straight free throws to put the game away and give the Dragons the win, 83-74.
Leading the way for the Dragons were:
Tucker Lowe: 26 points (four three point makes, 11-12 from the free throw line)
Luke Rogers: 21 points, 12 rebounds
Noah Sutton: 14 points
Owen Moss: 8 points
