Dragons Cannot Overcome LaFayette, Host Southeast Whitfield Tuesday

Yesterday afternoon, the PHS Dragons varsity basketball team hosted the LaFayette Ramblers in a 6-AAAA region ball game. After coming off of a tough loss to the Ridgeland Panthers the night before, Pickens looked to pick up a much needed region win.

 

In the 1st, both teams had their moments on offense as 39 total points were scored during the opening frame. LaFayette led the Dragons after one, 25-14. In the 2nd, nothing seemed to go right for Pickens. The Ramblers, used a 31-10 2nd quarter run to take a 56-24 lead into the half.

 

The 3rd, was closely contested between the two teams. LaFayette continued to lead after 3, 69-34. Besides the 1st, the 4th quarter was the best offensive output for the Dragons on this night as they outscored the Ramblers 13-10 in the frame. LaFayette took this one, 79-47.

 

Leading the way for the Dragons were:

Avery Luke: 19 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals, & 1 block

Seth Bishop: 12 points, 1 assist, 11 rebounds, & 1 block

Chase Simmons: 5 points, & 1 rebound

Hunter Hermann: 2 points, 1 assist, 3 rebounds, & 1 steal

Joseph Gossett: 2 points, 3 rebounds, & 1 steal

Keinyuan Hooks: 2 points, & 3 assists

Zach Goss: 2 points, 1 assist, & 2 rebounds

Hunter Jordan: 2 points, & 2 rebounds

Blake Gorth: 1 point, 1 assist, & 3 rebounds

Jacob Brumby: 2 rebounds

 

The Dragons will be back in action this Tuesday as they host the Southeast Whitfield Raiders for Senior Night. Tip off scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
