Back-To-School Supply Drive

Community

In Georgia, the average family spends over $100 on school supplies. This can be a hassle for middle class parents and it becomes a burden for poor families. School supplies are not at the top of many families budgets when it can be a struggle to keep food on the table.

Although lower than the national average of 14.7%, Pickens County still sees 29,469 people (11.6% of population) in its borders living below the poverty line. It’s easy to see why many families in our community aren’t able to afford supplies.

Jasper Merchants Association has stepped in this year with the Back-To-School Supply Drive. The drive allows citizens to donate backpacks and supplies to JMA in hopes that every child will have what they need for the school year.
