Dragons Get Big Road Win Against Ridgeland, Welcome Chestatee For Senior Day
PHS Basketball, Team FYN Sports January 27, 2018
The Dragons, took to the road last night as they made the long trek to take on the Ridgeland Panthers in a crucial 6-AAAA meeting. Pickens, came into the game looking to gather some momentum heading into the final week of the regular season, & hoped to start that, by splitting with Ridgeland.
Both teams came out firing in the opening quarter as the offense was flowing on both ends. The Dragons, used the fast start to grab a 20-17 lead over the Panthers going to the 2nd. The offensive success for both squads carried over into the 2nd quarter, & it looked like after the first half of play that we’d be in for a shootout. Ridgeland, used an 18-17 quarter advantage to trim the Pickens lead to 37-35, going to the break.
The 3rd quarter, was again, fast paced, intense back and forth action as both teams looked fairly matched up with each other. The Panthers, with the help of a 19-15 quarter advantage, seized the lead over the Dragons going to the 4th, 54-52. In the 4th, Pickens, would show no quit, as they used a 22-13 quarter run, and some nicely timed defensive stops to get the big road win over the Panthers, 74-67.
Leading the way for the Dragons were:
Joseph Gossett: 18 points, 2 assists, & 2 rebounds
Seth Bishop: 16 points, 3 assists, 8 rebounds, & 1 block
