Nettes’ Tame Lady Lions For Third Straight Win

Last night, the PHS Dragonettes varsity basketball team hosted the Lady Lions of Christian Heritage in a non-region ball game. Last month, Christian Heritage came away with a 39-34 victory at home. The Nettes’ looked to return the favor last night.

 

In the first quarter, both teams found early success as it was a closely contested frame. Pickens held a 14-11 lead heading into the 2nd. In the 2nd, the Nettes’ looked to add to their lead and that’s what they did. Using a 16-6 quarter run, Pickens stretched their lead over the Lady Lions to 30-17 heading into halftime.

 

The third, saw close action much like the beginning of the game. The Nettes’ outscored Christian Heritage 12-8 in the the frame to take a lead of 42-25 going to the 4th. Pickens closed things out and walked away with a 48-29 win.

 

Leading the way for the Nettes’ were:

Madison McClure: 10 points, 2 assists, 2 rebounds, & 2 steals

Kaitlin Redman: 9 points, & 5 rebounds

Autumn Young: 8 points, 5 assists, 5 rebounds, & 2 steals

Ashley Nelson: 8 points, 2 assists, 11 rebounds, & 2 steals

Mackenzie Hampton: 8 points, 1 assist, 9 rebounds, & 1 steal

Torie Williams had 3 points, 2 assists, & 3 rebounds, & Shelby Cook finished with 2 points, 4 rebounds, & a steal.

 

With the win, the Nettes’ are now winners of three straight. Pickens will look to continue their winning ways on Tuesday when they travel to take on the Lady Ramblers of LaFayette. With a win there, the Nettes’ would improve to 5-2 in region play. Tip off scheduled for 6 p.m.
