‘Nettes Get Non-Region Win Over Sonoraville

Yesterday, the PHS Dragonettes varsity basketball team welcomed the Sonoraville Lady Phoenix out of 6-AAA to the Dragons den for a little non-region tussle. Coming into the ball game, the ‘Nettes, were winners of 4 straight, & looked to go 2-0 for the weekend.

 

Much like Friday night against Southeast Whitfield, the ‘Nettes got off to a fast start in the opening quarter. Pickens, raced out to an early 17-4 lead over the Lady Phoenix going to the 2nd. In the 2nd, the ‘Nettes, added to their lead, using a 19-11 quarter run. Pickens, held a 36-15 lead going to the break.

 

In the 3rd, the Sonoraville offense got going. The Lady Phoenix outscored Pickens 14-8 in the 3rd, but the ‘Nettes still held the lead going to the 4th, 44-29. The 4th quarter, was a very competitive 8 minutes as both teams finished strong. Sonoraville, outscored the ‘Nettes 17-14 in the 4th, but Pickens held on to get their 5th straight win, 58-46.

 

Leading the way for the ‘Nettes were:

Mykenzie Weaver: 18 points, 1 assist, & 2 rebounds

Torie Williams: 10 points, 7 assists, & 3 rebounds

Mackenzie Hampton: 9 points, 1 assist, 9 rebounds, & 1 block

Olivia Simmons: 6 points, 3 assists, 5 rebounds, & 1 steal

Shelby Cook: 5 points, 2 assists, & 9 rebounds

Allie Stephens: 4 points, 7 assists, 1 rebound, 1 steal, & 1 block

Ansley Parker: 3 points, & 1 rebound

Hattie Baker: 2 points, & 1 rebound

Sarah Morris: 1 point, & 2 rebounds

 

Pickens, will take to the road this coming Tuesday as they head to LaFayette for region action. The ‘Nettes, will look for the season sweep over the Lady Ramblers, & stay in the 2nd spot in 6-AAAA play. Tip off scheduled for 6 pm.
