Gordon Thomas Cunningham, 74, of Jasper, Georgia died September 7, 2019, at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital surrounded by his wife and daughters. Gordon was born to Thomas and Alice Cunningham, July 19, 1945 in White Plains, New York. He graduated from Mahopac High School in Mahopac, New York in 1963. Gordon married the love of his life, Mary Carlyle in 1966 and they have been happily married for 53 years.

He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Gary Cunningham.

Gordon is survived by his loving wife, Mary Cunningham; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dawn and Greg Ferrara, Heather and Michael Colbaugh. The highlight of his later years was time spent with his grandchildren, Michael, Gregory, and Sabine. Gordon loved spending time with his family and friends and is survived by brothers and sister-in-law, Scott and Linda Cunningham, Greg Cunningham; aunt, Selma Strassburg; cousins, Harry Tompkins, Neal Strassburg, Lee Strassburg, Jack Strassburg; and much loved nieces and nephews.

His family will forever remember Gordon as a loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle who was a great story teller, encourager and prankster. He was a lover of sports, coaching, the great outdoors with all it brings, great friends, and the occasional caught fish. He was known to speak his mind, was generous in sharing his knowledge, and was well respected as an artist, craftsman and antique dealer.

Visitation will be at Roper Funeral Home in Jasper, September 12, 2019 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church in Jasper, September 13, 2019 at 11:00 am with a reception following. A private interment will be at a later time.
