Mary Nell Smith, age 75 of Big Canoe, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at WellStar Kennestone Hospital. She was born August 14, 1943 to Luther and Dema Shook in Blue Ridge, Georgia.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Billy Raymond “BR” Smith of Big Canoe; sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond Mitchell and Alethea Smith of Woodstock; Christopher Mark and Maria Smith of Williamsburg, Virginia; grandchildren, Emily Ann Smith, Megan Rose Smith, Celeste Seashell Smith, Christina Maria Smith; great-grandchild, Harper Ann Shoupe; sisters, Polly Bunyard of Calhoun; brother, Jimmy Shook of Blue Ridge; mother-in-law, Hazel P. Smith of Canton; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Daniel and Diane Smith of Cartersville, Ronald and Jean Smith of Cumming.

A memorial service will be held 1:30 p.m., Saturday, September 28, 2019 in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Reverend Bob Landham officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:25 p.m. on that Saturday at Roper Funeral Home.

The family request no flowers be sent. Donations may be made in Mrs. Smith’s honor to the American Cancer Society; Susan G. Komen; or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
