Ruth Burgess Roland, age 86, of Jasper, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2019 at Northside Cherokee. She was born July 27, 1933 to Carter and Mamie Burgess in Canton, Georgia.

Ruth is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Dianne and Michael Hicks of Jasper, Susan and Phillip Taylor of Jasper; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Connie Roland of Jasper; grandchildren, Jess Hicks, Jacob Hicks and Victoria Maynez, Sarah Hicks, Lindsey and AJ Hammond, Colby and Brooke Taylor, Devlin Roland and Bethany Goley, Caitlin Roland, Shanda and Jeff Freeman, Dana and Cody Ryal; great-grandchild, Lottie Hammond; sister, Faye Weeks of Jacksonville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Don and Nancy Roland of Jasper; sisters-in-law, Patricia Roland of Jasper and Sandy Roland of Jasper. Many nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Roland; daughter, Linda Roland Patterson; sisters, Lucille Burgess, Gladys Harris; brothers, Glen Burgess and Paul Burgess.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 30, 2019 at the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory with Kevin Roper officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.

The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home, Sunday, September 29, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.

The family will accept flowers or donations in Ruth’s honor may be made to Susan G. Komen.
