The 2015 Pickens Volleyball Dragonettes were honored in a recent match at home for Senior Night. These five girls have played all four years together and was an emotional send off for them. Pickens Picks Up Win as Dragonettes Look to “Strike Out” Cancer

The Pickens High School Dragonettes softball team hosted region rival, the Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats. The game took a back seat to life, as the Dragonettes honored all those affected by Cancer to take part in a brief “Strike Cancer” pre-game ceremony. Pickens Nettes Lose to Fannin but Have Bright Future

The Dragonnettes traveled to Fannin County High School on Thursday night and took three different teams with them. The 9th grade team was pitted against the junior varsity team of Morris Innovative and lost (25-10, 25-23(L), 27-25(L)). The JV squad faced the JV counterpart from Fannin and came away with the win (25-23(L), 25-20, 25-19), while the varsity team also played Fannin and lost (25-15(L), 27-25(L)). (more…)

Makayla Angel Selected as Wendy’s High School Heisman State Finalist

Pickens High School senior point guard Makayla Angel was selected as one of the twenty finalists in the state of Georgia for the Wendy’s High School Heisman award.

The award, which was created in 1994 by Wendy’s and the Heisman Memorial Trust, is given to a male and female high school athlete that excels both on the court or field as well as in the classroom. (more…)

The Pickens High School Dragonettes softball team hosted the River Ridge Knights on the annual “Senior Night.” While the junior varsity “Nettes” managed a 6-0 shut out win, the varsity fell 9-3. Despite taking a two run lead, 3-1, into the fifth inning, the Dragonettes fell to the region rival 4-3. The loss meant a sweep on the day for the visitors, as the junior varsity “Nettes” fell 8-3. Dragonettes Catch Fire in Sixth: Sic Lady Bulldogs 2-1, JV Explodes for 8-2 Victory

The Pickens High School Dragonettes softball teams, varsity and JV, made the long trek to Cedartown Georgia to take on the Lady Bulldogs. The Dragonettes erased a 1-0 deficit in the top of the sixth with two runs scored; ultimately securing a 2-1 victory. Afterwards the junior varsity Dragonettes scorched the home team with an 8-2 Cedartown shellacking. (more…)
