Dragons Basketball Swept by Gilmer

The Pickens High School basketball teams played host to the region rival Gilmer Bobcats Tuesday night. The matchup was the second meeting of the year for the two teams, with the first coming in the annual Tip-Off tournament. After the JV Dragonettes fell to the Lady Cats, the varsity teams looked to right the ship; however, the Dragonettes ran out of time, falling 46-44, while the Dragons fell 57-42. (more…)

Pickens Held in Check in Second Day of Holiday Classic

The Pickens Dragonettes and Dragons held their own for a while on the second day of the Pickens Holiday Classic but unfortunately were unable to come out victorious, as the Nettes fought hard but lost to Collins Hill 44-40 and the Dragons played great but eventually came up on the wrong side of a 59-55 game. Pickens Duels with Dawson in Season Openers

The Pickens Dragonettes and Dragons traveled to Dawsonville on Tuesday afternoon to face off with the Lady Tigers and Tigers in the teams’ first game of the 2013-2014 campaign. Both the Dragons and the Dragonettes would go home disappointed on this day, as the Nettes fell to the Lady Tigers 72-68 in a tremendous triple overtime game and the Dragons were tamed by the Tigers in a 60-35 ballgame. The Pickens Dragons and Dragonettes traveled to Calhoun on Tuesday to take on the Sonoraville Lady Phoenix and Phoenix and had mixed success, as the Dragonettes fought hard but ultimately came out on the losing end and the Dragons took advantage of a great third quarter to pick up their first victory since the second day of the ETC Tip-Off Tournament.
