Pickens Secures Stranglehold on Cedartown

The Pickens Dragons and Dragonettes traveled to Polk County, Georgia last night to take on the Cedartown Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs. Nettes Win, Dragons Lose in Final Day of Holiday Classic

The Pickens Dragonettes and Dragons finished off the third and final day of the Pickens Holiday Classic with mixed results against Robbinsville High School from Graham County, North Carolina, as the Nettes outlasted the Lady Knights in a highly contested game and the Dragons played three quality quarters against the Knights before being outscored by ten in the final period of play.

The Pickens Dragons and Dragonettes traveled to Cumming on Saturday evening to take on the West Forsyth Wolverines and Lady Wolverines. Makayla Angel Selected as Wendy’s High School Heisman State Finalist

Pickens High School senior point guard Makayla Angel was selected as one of the twenty finalists in the state of Georgia for the Wendy’s High School Heisman award.
The award, which was created in 1994 by Wendy’s and the Heisman Memorial Trust, is given to a male and female high school athlete that excels both on the court or field as well as in the classroom. (more…)

The Pickens High School Dragonettes basketball team traveled to North Hall High School to take on the Lady Trojans in the first round match up of the state playoffs. The Lady Trojans emerged victorious, winning 51-41. The Dragonettes struggled to score throughout the game, aided by a combination of the Lady Trojans full game full court press, and a plethora of Pickens’ own missed shots. (more…)
